One of the questions I get asked the most: How many hours of photography coverage do you think I need?
The short answer: It varies depending on what you want documented, the timeline of your day, and how you want things to flow.
But if you’re wondering the same thing about your own wedding, this post is here to help you get to the bottom of it.
Let’s dive in.
I offer 6, 8, and 10 hour wedding day photography packages. Each of these packages is designed to get you the perfect amount of wedding day coverage for your needs– and budget!
One thing to consider when it comes to choosing your wedding package: The First Look.
If you decide you are going to see each other before you walk down the aisle, then we can take wedding party and formal family portraits before your ceremony (and we can get photos of you enjoying cocktail hour.)
But if you go the more traditional route, we use cocktail hour to take those photos.
Of course this doesn’t make or break the timeline of your wedding. But it’s helpful to consider when choosing coverage and deciding how your day will play out.
I recommend my 6 hour package if you are looking for photos of both your ceremony and reception, but don’t need getting ready photos or extensive dance-floor shots.
If you’re opting for this package you’re probably looking for…
A first look is great for a 6 hour reception because we’ll take your wedding party and formal family portraits before your ceremony, allowing you to enjoy cocktail hour with your guests.
My 8 hour package is by far the most popular. It’s definitely for you if you want getting ready photos, photos of your guests shredding on the dance floor, and everything in between.
8 hours of coverage generally allows me to photograph:
8 hours tends to be the sweet spot because I get to photograph all the major events of your day, sans sweaty dance floor pics.
You want no moment of your wedding to go undocumented. And you need a photographer there all day– because you have a big gap between your ceremony and reception, you’re picture-crazy, or both.
If you want a formal exit (like where all your guests hold sparklers) or a private dance at the end of the night, the 10 hour package is the way to go.
10 hours of coverage generally allows me to photograph:
