The biggest reason why wedding photographers do this is that engagement sessions are the perfect way to meet you before your big day and build a deeper relationship with you. You’ll get a feel of how they pose and direct you so you know what to expect when your wedding day arrives, which is one less thing that you could worry about.
This also gives you a chance to get to know the person you’ll be spending a lot of time with at your wedding. Whether you’re actually interacting with them or not, your wedding photographer will be by your side for the majority of your day and I don’t know about you but I would much rather get to know that person than be accompanied by a stranger while some of the most vulnerable and intimate moments of my life are happening! And something that is really important to me over anything else is building relationships and trust with all of my couples.
Lastly, this is another chance at having photos for your save-the-dates. Maybe your proposal was photographed but it doesn’t match the theme of your wedding. For example, if you got engaged in the spring but are having a fall wedding, most couples have wanted to have their engagement session in the fall to coincide with the season that their special day is taking place in. And who doesn’t want more photos of them and their love?!
